The official Express Entry language-test page lists all three English options and specifies the required version of each test. Your immigration program still applies separate CLB requirements to listening, speaking, reading and writing.
PTE Core suits test takers comfortable with a computer and microphone
PTE Core assesses all four skills on a computer at a test centre. Speaking responses are recorded through a microphone, and the format includes tasks such as Respond to a Situation, Write Email and integrated-skill items.
IELTS General Training includes a live examiner speaking test
IELTS General Training assesses the same four abilities, while Speaking is a real-time interview with an examiner. Reading and Writing use general workplace and everyday contexts, and available computer or paper delivery can depend on the test centre.
CELPIP-General is fully computer-delivered in one sitting
CELPIP-General completes Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking on a computer, with spoken responses recorded from on-screen prompts. Its tasks, interface and language situations differ from PTE Core, so try each official sample format separately.
No test is universally easier
Compare program eligibility, local availability and fees, keyboard and microphone comfort, preference for a live speaking examiner, official sample performance and the required CLB level in every skill. Raw scores from different tests are not directly interchangeable.
